Why does MicroTek's 5.8 GHz System only have ten channels?
Within F.C.C. specifications a certain bandwidth is allowed for transmission at the 5.8 GHz level. A manufacturer may divide up this bandwidth however they choose. MicroTek allows 13 MHz at each channel for the 5.8 GHz. This is the minimal amount (13 MHz) each channel should have to prevent overlap between systems operating within the same area. Other systems on the market may advertise more channels, however, customers should be aware of the possibility of overlapping or F.C.C. violation.
